"As a Transformational Speaker, I'm on a mission to save the lives of our serving military, veterans and first responders, one audience at a time."
I sacrificed everything for my career as a Military Police Officer;
I've been places and seen things nobody should experience;
I've stood on the edge of a balcony, just wanting the pain to stop;
And then I stepped back.
My Name is Chris Power and unlike too many veterans and first responders, this was just the beginning.
It was in facing death that I truly decided to live.
Since that pivotal moment on the balcony two years ago, I've been busy putting the past behind me and preparing for the next phase in my journey.
Through research, experiential programs, reading and retraining I've developed a series of talks that will help serving military, veterans and first responders not only survive, but thrive in all areas of their lives.
The Questions We Explore
Why am I here?
What is our purpose in life and what does it all mean?
What is work life balance anyway?
Is there such thing as work life balance or are we missing something?
why do I always feel alone?
What is connection and how can it help?
Is anyone listening?
If communication is so important, why can it be so challenging?
More About My Journey
I was born and raised in Stephenville Newfoundland. After two years at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, I ran out of money and joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a Military Police Officer. I completed four years at the Royal Military College and earned a BA in Politics with a Minor in Military Psychology and Leadership.
Over the next 11 years I worked in Borden, Kingston, Ottawa and Toronto and visited Rural Northern Canada (x4), Afghanistan (x3), Kuwait (x3), Germany, Poland and Ukraine.
In 2017 I entered a depression that brought me to the verge of suicide. I reached out for help and was diagnosed with an Operational Stress Injury and Medically Released from the Canadian Armed Forces.
Since then I've retrained as a Certified Professional Coach and have dedicated my life to helping others avoid the same fate by sharing my experience and tools through public speaking, resiliency training and coaching.
